Memorial Hermann Hospital Life Flight Info. Hermann Life Flight started 1978. Six active helicopters in fleet: N110HH - Life Flight 1. BK117 A4. Crashed July 17, 1999 near refuel heliport. Killed pilot, flight nurse, and paramedic. N452MH - Life Flight 2. EC145. Radio 41389 & 41390. put into service 9/2007 (was using N220HH, a BK117 B2) N453MH - Life Flight 3. EC145. Radio 41433 & 41432. put into service 12/2007 (was using N330HH, a BK117 A4) N454MH - Life Flight 4. EC145. Radio 41353 & 41352. (was using N440HH, a BK117 B2) N455MH - Life Flight 5. EC145. Radio 41246 & 41245. (was using N557HH, a BO105S) N456TK - Life Flight 6. EC145. Radio 55324 & 55323. put into service 12/2007 N457JD - Life Flight 7. EC145. Radio 41148 & 41147. put into service 12/2007 Try to identify these radio IDs: 7429, 7431, 60972, 60974**, 60975, 60977, 60978**, 60980*, 60982*, 60983*, 60984**, 64876* Primary radio ID is listed first for each helicopter. Unidentified IDs with '*' are more commonly used. Life Flight Control's primary base radio uses ID 10320 (was 2855). They had a second radio on talkgroup 208 with ID 2856. Life Flight maintenance might be using IDs 2053 and 2052. Base locations: North Base-David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport (DWH). Radio 60973. East Base-Baytown Airport (HPY). Radio 795 or 8255 South Base-Pearland Regional (formerly Clover Field) (LVJ). Radio 60979 & 60974. West Base-Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. Radio 60981. Central Base-Hermann-neonatal care helicopter and spare helicopter (38TE) Note that helicopters are not assigned to specific bases. Radio IDs are not assigned to specific aircraft. Appears that radios are regularly switched out between helicopters. Operational Frequencies/Talkgroups: 128.850 MHz (AM mode) This used to be the primary frequency for Life Flight. It is also used by dispatch to talk to other company medivac helicopters landing at Hermann. Hermann helipad is identifier 38TE. It is called the John S Dunn helistop. There are four helipads on the roof. It sits 225 feet above sea level. Regional Analog talkgroup 21904-This is Life Flight's primary communications. It is monitored by flight staff at each base as well as any Life Flight helicopters in the air. Regional Analog talkgroup 208-This was Life Flight's first assigned talkgroup but still appears to be used as a secondary talkgroup. Dispatching of calls is done through text pagers on 152.0075 MHz and on the talkgroup. Your best bet for hearing these talkgroups is through the Houston site since the remote sites are rarely affiliated with this talkgroup. Ground Contact Frequencies/Talkgroups: 154.280 MHz-This is commonly referred to as Hi-band mutual aid. This frequency is used statewide by almost all Texas fire departments for interoperability. Life Flight will often use this to talk to the "ground contact", many times a fire fighter at the scene, that will give preliminary patient information and landing instructions. 154.950 MHz-This is called "intercity car-to-car". Many police agencies in the state use this for interoperability. 155.340 MHz-In this area, it is called HAHERN, for Houston Area Hospital Emergency Room Network. Most Texas ambulances and some police/fire folks have this in their radios. 458.075 MHz-This is called "FM1960 Fireground". Some of the Cy-Fair area fire departments use this to coordinate landings with Life Flight since they don't have VHF or 800 radios. 462.975 MHz-This is HFD's TAC-7 channel. When Life Flight makes a scene with HFD, they use this one to coordinate the landing with them. 851.5125 MHz-This is called 8TAC91. Is is one of five 800 MHz mutual interoperability frequencies available to any public safety agency using an 800 MHz radio, trunked or not. Folks should be using this frequency in simplex (direct) mode but sometimes you will hear the ground contact using this in repeater mode which often causes interference. Regional Analog talkgroup 8592-This is called Mutual Aid 2 or MA2. Some agencies that use the TxWARN system will talk to Life Flight on this talkgroup for landing coordination. Regional Analog talkgroup 12208-This is Alvin Mutual Aid. Regional Analog talkgroup 55888-This is Galveston County Countywide Fire. 123.025 MHz-You will hear Life Flight on this at times to coordinate airspace with other helicopters (traffic/police/media) when transitioning the Houston area. 122.800 MHz-This is Pearland Regional (formerly Clover Field) Unicom and Baytown Unicom. 118.400 MHz-This is Hooks Field tower frequency. 118.650 MHz-This is Sugar Land Regional tower frequency. Life Flight base initially dispatches through alpha pagers to the pilots and flight crew. Other notes: Life Flight refuels at helipad TE11 which is south of Almeda Rd and McHard. They call it "Reliant" (also "Fast Fuel"). Life Flight also talks to air traffic control and airport towers when going through their airspace but that's pretty routine comms and not very exciting. I won't include all possible freqs here. If you can think of a frequency or talkgroup that I may have left out, pass it along and I'll include it.
